Pure Joy

 Happiness is something we all strive for whether it is in our friends, family, money, music or many other things. But Pure Joy can only be found in on one place. The kind of happiness that never fails, it never ends, and it never leaves. In Africa I found that pure joy. This whole time I relied on others to make me happy. I thought the more things I had the happier I would become; I had fallen into the temptations of this world and had started to believe what the media has tried to teach us all: the more you have, the happier you will be. When I got here the first thing I noticed was the smiles on so many of these people’s faces and it puzzled me. How can they be happy when they barely have anything to eat? How can they be happy when they have lost both their parents and are now orphans? As I looked into this deeper I started to notice one thing that all these people had in common: Jesus. You see, the more we try and make it about us and we try to plan out our lives, the more miserable we become. If we put all of our trust and faith in Jesus, He will forever make us happy.

 

Psalms 9:2 says, “I will be filled with joy because of you. I will sing praises to your name, O most High.”

 

See, the world will never satisfy that craving for Joy. It will always disappoint, the world is not perfect but God is perfect. He can supply, he can fulfill and he will forever supply that Joy. It’s simple, really. Once you stop seeking the world for your happiness and start seeking God for it, your whole outlook on life will change. The more you read your Bible, pray, and seek God actively, the more joy you will find. I have finally started this journey of pure Joy with God and I couldn’t be any happier.
