“Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children” Matt 19:14

I never knew I could fall so in love with such a broken country. From the red soil and beautiful hills to the trash piles and crowded streets, I have fallen completely and totally in love with Uganda. I know I am called to serve here, and more specifically serve the children. We have been teaching at schools and visiting orphanages and I just want to bring all of the kids home with me! It amazes me how they can come from total brokenness and pain, but they still have so much hope and joy. I think we can all learn from these children. We need to all have childlike faith- to rely on our Father in Heaven to provide for us and to comfort us through all things. Here’s one of my journal entries from earlier this trip:

July 15th

“As I sit here on my balcony and admire the beauty of Uganda, I realize that You have called me home. All of the people here radiate pure joy- and that type of joy only comes from you, Father. I want to be surrounded by this kind of joy all of the time. Your love is so evident here, and I fully believe your power could move mountains in this nation. I know you are calling me to Uganda, and I pray Psalm 40:8 over Uganda- “I take joy in doing your will, my God, for your instructions are written on my heart.” Lord, let the people of Uganda have your will written all over their hearts and let their lights shine for all to see.”

PS- shoutout to my friends and family… miss and love you guys a lot!
