As I sit and think about where I am at in my walk with the Lord, the only thing I can think about is how I want to go deeper. I want to go deeper in my relationship with Him, prayer life, worship, etc. I feel like we, as believers always desire more. Desire more of the Lord, more direction, more assurance, more freedom, more grace, more love; the list could go on and on, but essentially just more. As a generation who wants to change the world, or soak in the depths of Gods love, we have an unsettling feeling, with the idea that we can be doing more and growing more to be like Christ. But how do we get there? How do I go deeper in my relationship with Christ? How do I pursue more, how do I grow more? Over the past year of my life, one of the first steps and solutions to going deeper, and pursuing more of what the Lord has for me is to step out of my comfort zone and become a part of something greater then myself which I may have never experienced or done before.
“If we never get out of our comfort zones, we can’t grow into the places God has prepared for us.”
– Seth Barnes, Kingdom Journeys: Rediscovering the Lost Spiritual Discipline
In Uganda, the Lord is going to present opportunities for you to serve and do things that may be completely out of your comfort zone. As a youth, you are going to immerse yourself into a culture which you may have never experienced, love on people who you may have no clue how to love, communicate in a way which you may have never done so, and so much more. You will leave your family for four weeks and serve in a country outside of America. The beauty of it all, is that no matter where we go, or what we are asked to do, the Lord is faithful, walking with us through it all, and has anointed and planned every moment with your time in Uganda.
Is God calling you to step out of your comfort zone and serve in Uganda this summer? Is He calling you to soak in the depths of His love, by stepping out of your comfort zone and spending time with Him in Uganda? The Lord has far better things planned for us as His children, and one of the first steps is to get out of our comfort zones so the Lord can grow us in the places that God has prepared for us.
