Identity Redefined

It’s our last night in Uganda, and we are spending it in an all night prayer. We started tonight off with Ipod worship and just sitting before The Lord listening and worshipping.

A song began to play that said, “Take my heart Lord/Speak what is true.” As it began to play, I imagined myself before the throne of God, and I was handing him my heart. With my heart, I was handing him all the things that had been spoken over me by others (and myself) and all the things I’ve believed about myself. The good, the bad, the true, the untrue- all of it. He took my heart from me, and in return spoke things over me that He wanted me to hear- the True things.

And as I began dwelling on these things, my spirit began to sing “God, I want to know You.” I realized that to know the True thoughts He thinks about me and towards me I must first know him, because I am His, created in His image, and called to be like him.

He speaks life because He is Life.

He speaks love because He is Love.

He speaks truth because He is Truth.

 

Surrendering comes first (which can be scary) then He will sing songs of innocence over you. Give him your heart, so he can shape you into your True self.

Someone who is loved. Someone who is beautiful.

Someone who is chosen. Someone who is pure.

Someone who looks like Jesus.

 

Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

…Whatever is TRUE, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy- think about such things.
